Proudly Offering EyeMed Vision Care

I bought Perry Ellis frames with lightweight lenses with UV protection. I would have paid $230, but with the EyeMed card I only paid $107. I couldn't believe how much I saved.

Lasik SurgeryWhat is LASIK?

LASIK is the most advanced procedure in correcting nearsightedness, farsightedness and astigmatism. It is one of the most frequently utilized elective procedures and is also an eligible Flexible Spending Account expenditure.

LASIK is technology utilizing the excimer laser. Instead of removing surface tissue, a thin layer of the cornea is lifted to create a protective flap. The inner corneal tissue is gently reshaped and the flap is returned. The corneal flap protects the treated area and allows for much quicker healing.

Am I a candidate?

If you are at least 18 years of age and are myopic (nearsighted), hyperopic (farsighted) or have astigmatism, you are a likely candidate. A thorough examination and your overall eye health will determine if laser vision correction if right for you.

LASIKHow safe is the procedure?

In 1995, after 10 full years of clinical trials, the FDA approved the use of the excimer laser in the U.S. Since its introduction, laser vision correction has passed the rigid safety standards and intensive scrutiny of public health agencies and medical professionals.

Laser Vision Correction results have been tracked for more than 18 years (both in clinical trials, prior to FDA approval and for years since FDA approval). Results support the long-term vision stability achieved with laser vision correction.

What laser technologies are available?

There are multiple laser technologies available on the market today. Based on your individual vision characteristics, your doctor will recommend which is the best match for you. Even though our surgeons are not required to offer all of these technologies, several do offer all three.
  • Broad Beam Technology
The standard in laser vision correction. This technology is good for patients with low nearsighted prescriptions, small astigmatism and small pupils. Also good for farsighted patients.
  • Flying Spot Technology
This technology provides a larger, smoother treatment area that reduces the likelihood of glare and halos. It is especially recommended for patients with any significant degree of nearsightedness, farsightedness, some astigmatism and medium to large pupils.
  • Custom Wavefront Technology
Custom LASIK is the most recently approved laser technology. Custom Wavefront technology allows us to correct not only nearsightedness, farsightedness and astigmatism, but also defects that affect contrast sensitivity and night vision. Wavefront measurement creates a custom "fingerprint" of your complete visual system, which guides the laser for a precise treatment. The visual outcome is often better than one achieves by wearing glasses or contact lenses.

Will I still need glasses?

Patients receiving laser vision correction can expect to reduce their dependence on glasses or contacts for distance vision. In most cases the need is even eliminated. However, as people approach their 40's and beyond, most can expect to develop presbyopia (the need for reading glasses).
